Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is a visual examination of the large intestine (or colon) using a lighted, flexible endoscope. The colon is the section of GI tract that leads from the abdomen to the rectum. A piece of equipment known as the flexible colonoscope is used to navigate the many bends in the colon.
A colonoscopy may be performed to screen for or help diagnose the presence of a variety of diseases such as cancer, polyps, colitis, diverticulitis, rectal bleeding and other abdominal symptoms.

EGD/Upper GI Endoscopy
Upper GI endoscopy, or EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) is a visual examination of the upper intestinal tract using a lighted, flexible endoscope. The upper GI tract leads from the mouth to the esophagus and stomach.
An upper GI endoscopy may be performed to help diagnose a variety of diseases, the symptoms of which may include ulcers, intestinal bleeding, esophagitis, heartburn and gastritis.
